Hey guys pray with me in the launch of what is sure to be one of the most impactful ministries at church - Student Ministries!
That is right - I need all of you praying with me as we embark on this new area of ministry at DC Metro… After personally serving for several years as a youth pastor, I can honestly say that there is not a more fertile ground for sewing into within our community…
The Middle School and High School Students of this city need a place to call their home church (DC Metro) and their youth ministry (ELEVATE - cool name huh…)…
It all kicked off this Sunday Night with their first student service at the Salvation Army (Thank You Salvation Army for Allowing Us To Use Your Building For This Important God-First Endeavor)… If you or someone you know is in Middle School or High School - then encourage them to attend every Sunday Night…
Final Thought:
It is said that 85% of all Christ Followers make their decision to follow Christ before the age of 18… Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit uses DC Metro as the place for so many in this age group to make that decision this fall…
GO GOD!

Have you wondered whether eating chocolate really causes acne or if eating turkey actually makes you sleepy? These are just two of the myths that our wonderful announcers busted this past Sunday…
There’s actually no connection between eating chocolate and getting acne AND eating turkey does not make you sleepy! Turkey does contain a natural sedative, but this same sedative is found in many other meats and cheeses. Plus, you do not ingest enough of it in one setting to feel the effects. However, eating a big heavy meal such as Thanksgiving dinner has been known to make you very drowsy because blood flow to the brain is decreased. (Ok, ok, I know! Enough with the science stuff…)
This past weekend I had a great time busting the myth of whether all roads lead to heaven…If you missed the message, be sure to listen to it here.
I’m looking forward to another GREAT weekend of Busting Myths About God…
This week’s myth - “I Can Handle It Myself”
See You There…

There was a great Guest Services Team BBQ that I got to attend last Sunday Night and boy was it fun… I dont always hear about all the happenings at the church now days, but when I get invited to food, there is always a celebration in my heart (Ok - stomach too…)
Guest Services Team
Not just because I was invited to their party (OK - Maybe that is a little untrue) but, I wanted to give a quick shout out to our Guest Service Team. These guys are such an important part of the Excellent DC Metro Experience that we all enjoy. They so faithfully greet everyone who walks into the church (I know it is a theater too - but really its a church…) on Sunday mornings… Way to go guys and gals…
Guest Service Leaders
Also want to recognize the Guest Service Leaders who work so hard all week to make it an even smoother process on the weekends. They are none other than my dear friends Matt & Amber Streit. Matt & Amber do such a great job scheduling, encouraging, and building this team - you guys rock! Also a new addition to their leadership is someone also very very dear to me (ok - She Is Amazing!!!) MY WIFE!!! Taryn is doing so good (and she gets to hang with Amber) to help make the experience all that it can be for all those who attend each week… Great job you three as you and the entire guest services team bless everyone at the church - every week!
Go God!
Bless You,
Pastor David
PS - If you are interested in being on this team on Sundays be sure and find my wife Taryn or Amber on Sunday Mornings and let them know you want to help make others feel so welcomed…

So you get into a discussion with one of your co-workers about religion and they insist that there are many ways a person can get to God… Hmmm. That can’t be right or can it? I mean that about it - how could a loving God send a person to hell?
Sounds Like a Job For DC Metro Myth Busters…
- Hey Guys,
Very excited about our kick off of this great new series, it is sure to be a great time in God’s Word as we navigate through so many of todays myths - busting them with God’s Word. This Sunday we are going to solve the myth that: All Roads Lead to Heaven.
Get ready for some myth busting starting this weekend… and as the old 80s Ghost Buster theme song says - “Bustin Makes Me Feel Good!”
Love you guys,
Pastor D.

After much rain on Saturday, The Convoy of Hope Event was pushed to Sunday… Never-the-less the show went on as re-scheduled on Sunday and DC Metro was there in a big way…
Let me just say first that I am so proud of all the DC Metroers who signed up for this huge event. In total we had over 60 people scheduled to be at this event on Saturday. Great Job Guys as this is a huge step for us as a church by reaching out as the “Body of Christ” unified with so many other churches (48) throughout the DC Metro Area. Much commendation was given to DC Metro for being a huge part of this event (So Go GOD!). Also, quick shout-out to Mrs. Julie Lee (DC Metro Outreach and Childrens Director) for heading up our efforts in this hope filled endeavor.
We had DC Metro “Convoy” of about 10 people who were able to make it on Sunday after church which to me was a great showing to this rescheduled event… I know that many of you wanted to attend, but let me just say, you were well represented on Sunday… The Sunday Crew ended up: helping with kids, picking up trash (My Favorite), and doing tear-down of the event.
I had a great time and was able to hang a bit with some other local pastors that were there after their sunday services… One of the other church Pastors, Mark Batterson and myself ended up working together as we tore down the barricades around the event with tons of other people as well… This to me even further exemplified the unity between churches that was so obvious, and that I was so thankful to be a part of through this event (Unity, Something I think we all long for and DC Metro will strive for…) (Go GOD!)
Psalm 133: 1-3 How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down upon the collar of his robes. It is as if the dew of Hermon were falling on Mount Zion. For there the LORD bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.
This unity had huge impact (as it always does in the Kingdom) as the “body” was able to give away: 80,000 lbs of groceries to over 10,000 people!!! What an event! Go God! Thank God for the unifying effort of Convoy of Hope and DC Metro Church… Great Job you guys…
When one of us is reaching, we are all reaching together as a church…
Bless You,
David
PS - If you had to miss this event - don’t worry another is coming October 4th called Art on the Avenue (More To Come On That Later…)

It has been a great week at DC Metro as there has been lots of activity as we ramp up for the BIG FALL Ahead…
Last night we had our membership reception and it was so great to meet all the new members of DC Metro Church. I love the fact that DC Metro is truly representing God’s heart in the Lord’s Prayer where Jesus says, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” As I looked around the room last night at the membership reception I was so encouraged to see representation from all walks of life, generation, and culture, and backgrounds represented… (A little glimpse of heaven on earth for me… and as the church should be…) Go God, and Go DC Metro… (Side Note: If you would like to attend a membership reception the next one is September 25th! Contact Julie Lee at julee@dcmetrochurch.org)
The entire church has been doing a week-long fast this week which wraps up today, and as much as I know that God is going to move mightily this fall because of it, and that He did great things in our lives through it (Can I Be Real?) I AM SO GLAD IT IS OVER… Go God Use Us and Use This Season Of Fasting For Your Purposes!
As I read through Isaiah 58 (The Fasting Chapter) last week, I was so encouraged as we (as a church) are walking out the attributes of a “true fast” with our efforts to reach out to the community around us… Go God!
Looking forward to another great Sunday at Church this weekend as we will be wrapping up the “Living Like a Champion” Series and getting all fired-up about our 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY Service coming next week September 7th… In fact, next week is slated to be the big “DC METRO WEEK!” of the entire year, Here is what it looks like:
DC METRO WEEK!

Expecting Great Things This Weekend, next week, and This Fall,
Go GOD!
