Hi, my name is Jeremy Allexon and I am one of the new interns at DC Metro. Gee… Where to begin… I came in one day after being let go from my job and Pastor David offered me a chance to be a guinea pig in this grand experiment called a church internship. Well what do I do? I cut some mean paper with the paper cutter, the paper trimmer and a pair of hand cutters. Other things I do is manage and run the resource center and keep track of all the stuff that keeps the shop and the church running like coffee and coffee supplies, God forbid we run out of those. The highlight of my internship thus far is that I get to work with great people for God, and learn a lot about Starbucks Coffee from our resident AV Director & Starbucks Coffee Master John Lee.

Hello, I’m Jessica Sorensen, two years ago my husband, Dana, and I moved here from Michigan because Dana is in the Air Force and stationed at Bolling AFB. Shortly after we moved here we tried out a few churches and were really discouraged because we couldn’t find a church home. Dana’s supervisor, Andy invited us to a vision night for DC Metro Church, we were a little nervous about going but we did. We made some great friends that night and we really fell in love with the church. I started by serving in the Children’s Ministry and then about a year and half ago I started volunteering at the office one day a week, and that became a few days a week. A few months ago I started as the service coordinator on Sundays, so if you have seen someone running around the theater that’s probably me. I really have enjoyed serving God in these roles at church. Now I am happy to say that this week I started as an accountant at DC Metro church, I work three days a week at the office and still get to spend a couple days at home with my 15 months old son, Teagan.
It is such a blessing being at the church, doing work for Jesus and building his kingdom.

Been hanging with Pastor Billy Hornsby ( Head of the Association of Related Churches which we belong to - www.relatedchurches.com ) this weekend and just downloaded tons of great Leadership Nuggets at our HNL Leadership Training this afternoon.
Looking forward to hearing a great word tomorrow morning as we have him on Sunday Morning at DC Metro Church!

We all have Hard Times… Lets face it - Life can be TOUGH at times… and even though it tastes so good, it takes a whole lot more than a bowl of chili to get through it…
Dont worry though, as we will see this weekend King David also faced some Really Hard Times, and lived to tell us all about God’s Prescription for Hard times…

Yes that is right, this weekend we are going to tackle the BIG and often times STRESSFUL subject of Making Decisions.
What is Jesus’ Plan For My Future?, what direction do I take?, who should I marry?, what job should I take?, What is the next step for me? These, and any questions about our decisions can be stressful questions in all of our our lives…
Dont Stress Out –> Dr. God has got the perfect prescription for you…
This weekend we will look at Dr. God’s Prescription for indecision…

Emotions -
To most guys I know, this can be a BAD word, however once looking into it, it is a normal human word that we ALL deal with - not just our female counterparts… I have been doing alot of study on emotions in the recent months, and I must say there is SO MUCH MORE than meets the eye when it comes to this critical topic… In fact, I am so pumped about this weekend as we are going to look at what God’s Word has to say about our Emotions. It never ceases to amaze me about how “all-encompassing” & “practical-to-life” God’s Word is when it comes to every aspect of our everyday lives (including our emotions).
This weekend we are going to dive deep into our emotions and reveal God’s Prescription for keeping them HEALTHY and allowing Him to RESTORE them when they are not…

So glad to be back in town after the ARC Conference - More on that tomorrow…
Today I am looking forward to meeting all the new DC Metroers as well as those who are interested in Exploring Membership to DC Metro Church. Each month I look forward to people finding their home church to be “planted” in. It is so good when God brings us to a place that we can call home and begin to grow in him. Psalm 92:13 talks about being planted in a local church and that our lives will FLORISH once we are planted in His House.
Those of you that are coming or thinking of coming - tonite is gonna be a great night and I cannot wait to see you there…

Looking forward to a New Series Starting This Weekend - Here is my thoughts…
I am pretty pumped considering - I have been working on this series for over a year. I remember standing outside of the Alexandria Library on Commonwealth one March afternoon in 2008. I was on the phone praying for someone in our church because of the major stress that they were dealing with in their life. The phone call ended with the other person feeling encouraged, but it led me to another conversation with God about What causes the STRESS in our lives??? His revealing of the answer to that question has been a year long process /study / download that I have turned into a series called “Prescriptions From The Great Physician!” or Dr. God for short…
We will kick it off this weekend as we allow God to reveal to us, His Prescription for WORRY!
If you worry, or if you know someone who worry, or if you think that you dont worry - This Sunday at DCMetro Is For YOU!!!
