Enjoying One Prayer Series…

Enjoying One Prayer Series...

I have been watching this One Prayer Series from afar for three years now, and only now am I able to fully jump into the fun with all the other churches across the country as we do One Prayer this year at DC Metro Church…  The idea is simple and yet challenging for christiandom “The Church Stands Together – One Prayer”.  This year we will be doing one prayer with 1100 other churches across the country where we will share resources and reach out to the hurting world around us with a unified voice…  What an expression of God’s Love – and to think that the church would get the revvy…

So Glad that DC Metro is a Part. – Check out more about One Prayer by visiting www.oneprayer2010.org

Enjoy this series as we unify with churches from all over the world with ONE PRAYER to Share, Serve, and Reach this summer like never before…

REDLINE: CAUTION! YOU ARE ABOUT TO EXPLODE!

REDLINE: CAUTION! YOU ARE ABOUT TO EXPLODE!

I am looking forward to our new REDLINE series starting this weekend at DC Metro Church!  This could be our most creative series yet, but that is definately not my goal by any means.  Rather, in this series, we are going to get down to serious business in several different CRITICAL areas of our lives that are literally REDLINED!

REDLINING happens in an automobile when we push our engines to the limit and beyond.  This is never sustainable, yet we often push the limit in several critical areas of our lives only to find ourselves on the verge of EXPLOSION!  The above speed-o-meter says it all when it comes to our fast pace lives.  If you live your life on the REDLINE in just 1 of the following areas: relationships, finances, schedule, family, or your morality - YOU ARE SURE TO EXPLODE IN ALL AREAS!

Don’t worry, there is HOPE – - – > God has got a sustainable solution for you starting this SUNDAY!  Don’t Stay REDLINED!  YOU DONT WANT TO MISS a single message of this new series - as we allow God to bring us back to a balanced, and sustainable God-First Life!

ENGINES STARTING THIS SUNDAY – May 23rd…

Baptism, This Sunday May 16th!

Baptism, This Sunday May 16th!

Baptism is happening this Sunday May 16th @ DC Metro Church and I can hardly wait…  It is always an exciting time for new believers to express their new found relationship with Christ, as well as a refreshing reminder of “the joy of our salvation” for us as believers…

Below is a quick study on what it means to be Baptized.  It is sure to fire you up whether you are ready to be baptized this weekend, or if you just need to be reminded of how powerful your baptism was in the past…

Baptism ~ What is it?
Baptism is a physical symbol of the spiritual change that Jesus Christ has made in our life.

Although it is not required for salvation, Jesus told the disciples to baptize everyone who became a Christian.
•    Matthew 28:19 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
•    Acts 2:38 – Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The Greek word for “baptism” means to immerse or dunk.

What does it mean?
Baptism is a symbol that we died with Christ and are raised to a new life in Him.
•    Romans 6:4 – We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
•    Colossians 2:12 – Having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.

Baptism is also a symbol that our sins have been washed away.
•    I Peter 3:21 – And this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

How do we baptize at DC Metro Church?
We dunk the person in water because it symbolizes the burial and new life of a Christian and because every person who was baptized in the Bible was baptized this way.
•    Matthew 3:16 – As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.
•    Acts 8:38-39 – And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.

We practice what is called “believer’s baptism,” which means we baptize those who are able to understand their commitment to Christ.

If you are even thinking about being baptized ~ then the time is right ~ Jump in this Sunday ~ the water’s fine…

PS – Did I mention that you get a free DC Metro T-Shirt when you get baptized?  Well, You Do…

Bless You,

Go God!

Mothers Day Is Going To Be Incredible This Sunday!!!

Mothers Day Is Going To Be Incredible This Sunday!!!

One of the greatest holidays in history happens this weekend – Mother’s Day!

I have been thinking about mom’s alot lately, mostly because I have one, I am married to one, and I work with two more.

As I have been thinking about it, Jesus must be so pleased with even our modern day mommas. They represent Him so well by being: supportive, kind, loving, caring, serving (constantly serving and serving). I know that this has to be one of His favorite holidays as well (next to maybe Easter and Christmas of course – Ok Good Friday too…)

What a calling they have… Mothers – a unique lifelong journey that most of them have anticipated since they were little girls…

As I am thinking about it, I can’t help but realize what a servants heart it takes to be a Mother. Thank God for all our mothers at DC Metro Church and beyond… Not only is Jesus so proud of you, but as for us Men – We Need You – BIG TIME!

Go Moms!

Go God!

Grateful & Not Dead

Spoke abt being grateful last weekend and have been thinking abt it all week. Insteaded of just thinking abt it, I figured a good list would make it a little clearer.

Here goes, I’m thankful for:

1. The life that Jesus has allowed me to live, and the fact that He has allowed me to remain cancer free for almost 20 years… Thats 20 more years than the dr’s gave me. I’m grateful – not dead!

2. The amazing woman that God has allowed me to marry. Taryn, you are my babe & I am so thankful that God caved-in in when I asked Him for your hand in marriage.

3. The exciting path that God has led me on – into ministry. (I don’t really feel qualified, but i’m constantly aware & thankful His grace is sufficient.)

4. The smart, sharp, & studly sons that God has given me, Isaac & Siah – I am so thankful to be your daddy. Being your father has brought me closer than I have ever dreamed to understanding the father-heart of God.

5. The amazing church that I get to pastor. Being pastor of DC Metro Church is the most amazing position (not job) that i could have ever ask for. The people are incredible and I am honored to be their pastor- thank you Jesus!

These are just a few of mine, what are you grateful for? Let Him know today and you’ll thank me for it.

Psalm 136 – should help get you started…

Thx,

David

We Are In!

What a great weekend! I cannot believe that we are finally in the new digs, or as we put at DC Metro Church, “We are in God’s New Crib for DC Metro Church.”

It has been quite a journey to move from one location to the next, one year ago Easter to be exact. I can honestly say that I am more amazed with God’s Provision and Plan for DC Metro Church than ever before. So many, many, many people have come together to make this vision a true reality and the reality of this new pad is so sweet. I was skeptical several (ok – hundreds of) times along this new facility journey, yet one thing is for sure, God is faithful no matter what…

I feel more excited than ever before about the future of DC Metro Church. As a church planter, I am always looking for another opportunity to connect someone to God’s House, and can honestly think of no better time for someone to become part of DC Metro Church than RIGHT NOW! So if you are here! Welcome Home! and if you thinking about being here —> JUMP IN & GET PLANTED!

It’s exciting – I’m thankful – Go God!

The Big Move!

The Big Move!

So pumped about this weekend. I cannot believe that it is already here! The BIG MOVE!

I am so pumped to announce that we will be moving to our new facility (1100 North Fayette Street, Alexandria VA 22314) this week.

One year ago, on Easter Sunday 2009, I “accidentally” discovered the building that we are now able to call home. As soon as I saw this facility, I felt like God had designed it specifically for DC Metro Church to use as a tool for furthering our church vision of “building a God-first culture throughout the DC Metro area.” We have experienced one miracle after another over the last year as we continue to watch God open doors and bring record Sunday attendance every week. The faithfulness of so many who call DC Metro Church “home” is the reason that after only 2 years and 7 months DC Metro Church is able to move into such a cool new place.

I believe the reason God has given this new facility to DC Metro Church is because we will be able to reach more and more people with the Good News, as well as provide a church home for so many who are desiring a Real, Relevant, and Enjoyable church experience.

I am so excited about our first services in our new church home this Sunday, April 11th at 9:30 and 11:00 am. Please join me as we celebrate God’s faithfulness and the launch of this incredible new chapter in the life of DC Metro Church.

Get Pumped – Its the BIG MOVE!

Go God!

happy Easter!

Hey all you DC Metroers,

I am looking forward to all that God has in store for us this Easter Weekend! I believe it is going to be our biggest weekend ever (with your help…continue to invite your friends and anyone that God brings across your path this week! Look at my previous post for 3 ways you can invite people ) because we are throwing a huge party for Jesus to celebrate His resurrection!

I recently heard a statistic that 82 percent of people accept an Easter invitation to church!!! Isn’t that exciting?

I hope to see you all at our Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday from 8:30-2pm. We are going to be having an Easter Egg Hunt for children with special needs first because we know that these children are so close to Jesus’ heart and we want to honor them and their parents.

We will also be having another egg hunt for children of all ages, so bring your kids, invite your neighbors, and get ready to have fun! We will be meeting at the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center in DelRay, so come join us as we reach out into the community to show the love of Jesus this Easter weekend! For more information or to sign up to volunteer (the 12-2 slot is most in need of volunteers) contact Jessica Kasper at easteregghunt2010@gmail.com. See you there!
