The Stine Family is looking forward to a great Christmas with Friends and some Family Members…
We have done all of our shopping this year and I am pleased to say that I am finished with Taryn’s Present. You see, this year, Taryn had this wild idea for us to make gifts for one another instead of spending money on each other. In fact the rule is, that you cannot spend more than $25.00 on the other person. So of course that means that you have to get REAL creative… I was lacking in my creativity for about a week or so, but I think I finally have it figured out… I am sure that she will LOVE it…
We are doing this to get our focus as a couple and a family back on the important things about Christmas - I will let you know how it goes - but so far things have been very MERRY!
If you need to get your focus back on the true meaning of Christmas and maybe even a little BOOST to fully get into The Christmas Spirit then check out the message from our Christmas service last Sunday by clicking here… afterall, IT’S TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!
Wishing a Very Merry Christmas to You and Yours…
Bless You,
David, Taryn, Isaac & Siah Stine

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!
We truly do have so much to be thankful for… Taryn, Isaac, Siah and I all spent the day with our local family and some peeps from our church family as well… It was good just to kick back and enjoy the day with good friends (who am I kidding, I was chasing two wild children all day!) Ok, so one day I will kick back and enjoy thanksgiving with the boys, right?
We are headed out again tonite to hangout with some other wonderful DC Metroers - Our Children’s Directors - John and Julie Lee - and EAT! (I am lovin that!) Isaac and Siah will be pumped as well as I picked up a dvd of Wall-E that they will have a front row seat to over at the Lee’s…
Not sure what we have in-store for tomorrow but it has been a Weekend Of Adventure already for the Stines… But it is not over yet…
Which brings me to SUNDAY! GOD @ THE MOVIES - PART 2
IT IS GONNA BE AN ADVENTURE!!! as we talk about THE CONSTANT ADVENTURE!
Mr. Adventure Himself - will help us this weekend in what is my favorite God Movie-Moment of all time…
See You There…
Go God and Happy Thanksgiving From The Stines!
David

Hey guys,
Hope you are all having a great week so far… I have to tell you that I have had a heck of a great week and I am so looking forward to church on Sunday where we will once again be talking about Relationships in our Rated “R” Series…
Have to give a quick plug for a great little place that Taryn and I took the boys to today (Isaac and Siah - dada loves you!). It is a place in Cernterville, Va called COX FARMS… www.coxfarms.com. Very Cool for the kids if you are looking for something fun to do tomorrow with the family. We rode on our first family hayride together, picked out pumpkins, rode down huge slides, got to pet all sorts of farm animals (Well the boys did anyway - and Taryn was quick with the baby wipes…) Get this, We even got to milk our first cow together… What a day…
Looking forward to tomorrow as I will be speaking at the Growth Track Retreat that is going to be in Shrine Mont, Va tomorrow… Pray as I know that God is moving mightily on this great group… Go God!
Hey also if you have not checked out our most recent DC Metro Newsletter I have pasted it below… Also if you would like to receive our monthly e-newsletter just click here and drop in your email address…
See you on SUNDAY!!!

Quality relationships are one of life’s greatest pleasures, but they do not happen by accident. We are currently enjoying a message series entitled “Rated R for Relationshipsâ€. Relationships are one of Pastor David’s favorite topics to preach on, and his passion for this subject is contagious. We have been reminded that loving others well is one of the important things we can do in life, but it is also one of the one most challenging. The first week in this series Pastor David preached the message “Till Death Do Us Part†and we were challenged to be committed to our relationships because our commitments not only show our values, but they shape our lives and destinies.
Then we were treated to Pastor David’s spicy message, “It Really Mattersâ€. This call for purity was so seasoned with humor that were was struck by the truth that there is nothing boring about devoting our minds and bodies to God. We dove into the spiciest book of the Bible, Song of Solomon, to gain understanding about God’s perspective on purity and the pleasure He designed for marriage. Pastor David called for us to be deliberate in the choices we make regarding our relationships, but he also held out hope for restoration to anyone who desires greater purity (Psalm 51:10-13). God is able and willing to cleanse us, change our hearts, and fill us with His Spirit.
The third message in this series (filled with plenty of comic relief including Pastor David acting like Rocky) was “Sparring for Successâ€. We considered the difference between working through our differences (sparring) and seeking to defeat the other person (boxing). Pastor David shared some godly guidelines that will help us spar instead of box and that will help us grow through our conflicts. If you missed any of these messages, you can check out our podcast at dcmetrochurch.org or pick up a free CD after church. You won’t want to miss the coming weeks when Pastor David will share more biblical insights on developing fun and fulfilling God-centered relationships.
The Season of Hope is coming! This holiday season DC Metro Church will have the opportunity to show Christ’s love in a practical way through three outreaches. We are excited to have these opportunities to care for others in ways that are meaningful to them. We encourage you to join us in these outreaches:
- Carpenter’s Shelter: We can celebrate Thanksgiving by feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving evening. What better way to thank God for His provision than giving Him our hands to use as His own.
- Kids Helping Kids: This will be our second annual outreach for the Children’s Rescue Center in Liberia, West Africa. (It is great to be involved in second annual events!) We will be collecting new toys for the children who live there. Christmas is much more meaningful when we get to share with those who have so little. This is a great opportunity for our children (and adults) to be used by God to touch the lives of other children for Jesus.
- Southeast White House Outreach: We will be throwing a Christmas party for the kids who are participants in the programs at Southeast White House. What an honor to represent Jesus to these little ones, showing them His love in such a fun, practical way.
MORE DETAILS ON THESE EXCITING OUTREACHES COMING SOON! If you have any questions, contact Julie Lee at julee@dcmetrochurch.org.
Elevate kicked off Sunday night youth group on September 21st. All teens from 6th – 12th grade are invited to join in the live music, food, crazy fun, and spiritual encouragement every Sunday night at the Salvation Army in Del Ray. (1804 Mt. Vernon Ave.) The fun begins at 6:00, with doors open at 5:45. David has been sharing a series of messages called “Contraband†which has given the students a great overview of the most important events and themes in the Bible including: Creation, brokenness, promise, rebellion, grace, and eternity. We would love your prayers for this ministry that has the incredible calling of reaching our youth with the countercultural, life altering message of Jesus’ passion. If you have any questions or know anyone interested in coming to Elevate, email David Goochee at dgoochee@dcmetrochurch.org.

A Note From Pastor David
We are so excited to see all the new faces this fall. It brings me great joy to see our DC Metro family growing. This past few weeks I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to preach on one of my favorite topics, relationships. I hope that you are experiencing richness in your relationships as you seek to walk out some of the biblical principles for cultivating God-first relationships. Be sure to invite your friends to experience all that God is doing at DC Metro this fall. Just remember- the best is yet to come… As 1 Corinthians 2:9 reminds us, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those that love Him.â€
I love you guys & see you Sunday.
Go God,
Pastor D

Firetrucks make for a Fun Birthday!
Today we had a great lil’ birthday for our son Isaac…
He turned two today and we celebrated with his favorite thing, Firetrucks!
We invited the Alexandria City Fire Department to make a stop by our home today and they graciously did (thanks again you guys!), and Isaac benefited greatly from the visit of one of their firetrucks as well as one of their ambulances…
PRESENTS?
With the help of some grandparents, Isaac also got a new swingset!
Needless to say, he was pretty pumped… Just look at that pre-slide diving jump (what form!)
Thanks to all who made Isaac’s b-day one to remember…
David & Taryn

This past weekend we all took a step in the right direction as we purposed to once again position our hearts on God for Spiritual Growth for this Season of Growth…
After church on Sunday, I had some much needed & anticipated time with “my boys.” They are always such a great parallel for me as I navigate through life on this walk of faith with my heavenly father. Well no-one has to explain to you that a 4 month old and a 2 year old (24 months this weekend!) are both in a time growth… Their growth has some similarities of our spiritual growth in God that I started to pick up on this week…
1. First, their growth is agressive.
Yes, you guessed it, they grow fast - It seems like just the other day I was coming home with lil Isaac and to this this weekend he will be a whopping 730 days old! They don’t think about it, it just happens as they naturally focus on LIFE. We grow fast to - if we are focused on LIFE (like my boys are), it comes naturally as we focus on the source of LIFE that is, Jesus… LIFE naturally has a way of growing things…
2. Second, Their growth is improved by their diet.
These boys can eat, especially my youngest, Josiah (aka - Siah or JD). This boy is four months old, but BIG. He is in the 95 Percentile of babies and is currently moving into 9 month old clothing… (Pray for me) But there is a reason that he is so big… His appetite is HUGE! The boy eats and eats and eats some more… We are like that as well - when we consume more of God’s: Word, Prayer, Worship, Steps of Faith, Faithfulness, and all spiritual disciplines we GROW.
3. Third, Their growth is developing by faith
These little guys try something new everyday… Whether it is: Sitting-Up, Rolling Over, Crawling, Running, Jumping, etc. they are always trying something new and it always first merits much trial and error. Trial, because they are stepping out trying if for the first time without even knowing how to do it. Error, because it usually results in error at first, but always ends in success because they never let up… Always believing that the next step is going to be the right step… No analogy required for us…
These two little guys have shown me spiritual growth (or at least three aspects of my own).
I hope they are GOoD examples for you too…
Have a great Week,
GROW GOD!
David
The Stine’s had a great Easter and yes I know - “That was over a week and a half ago!!!”
Never-the-less, I thought it would be cool to post a few photos as I am so proud of my little men…
Starting from a couple of months ago till this week, Here they are:
Baby JD in my hand - I think he is about three weeks here… (11 weeks now)
Baby JD Again - with his blank blank…
This was a good one of Isaac that I have just not posted yet… What a Sharp Cat!
Here is a couple of love birds right here - this is at the “new” favorite P A R K (We are in the stage where we have to spell everything…) ya know…
Finally a couple of Easter Shots - This is one that I took (Can You Tell?) This is JD in his little Easter Get-Up…
Here is my happy little camper - No Worries - Our little fireman had a great time hunting eggs and enjoyed Easter just fine… I think his little fire engine easter basket helped out quite a bit though… As he would say, “FIRE TRUGGG!”
Speaking of firemen, Here is my little fire fighter recovering from our Adventure Day last Saturday - (The helmet we aquired after we raided a local fire department…) (Don’t worry it was legal) In Fact…
Daddy got one too… (What can I say, Like father like son...)
Hope You Are Having A Great Week!
GO GOD!
I thought it might be good to catch up on some “behind the scenes” family photos & happenings from the last month or so…
With that said, here are a few photos that are sure to give you a Real, Relevant, and I hope Enjoyable snapshot into our “little” world:
Our Little All-Star:
A Little Group Of Friends:
A Little Welcome Home Kiss: (Manly Kiss!)
A Little Super Bowl Action:
A Little Coffee With The Crew:
A Little ICY Weather:
A Little Hair Cut:

Hope you are having a Great - AND SIMPLE - Week…
See You This Weekend!
Go God!
David

This past weekend Isaac and I got some good ole’ guy time at the Washington DC Auto Show…
We had a great time and saw some amazing vehicles as we scoured the area checking in with the latest styles and all the newest models.
I am not sure what it is about cars that can put men of all ages into high gear. As you can probabally imagine Isaac was no exception as we moved from front-seat to front-seat for hours - snapping proud photos all the way…
It must be tied to speed, racing, or winning (or some combination) that keeps our engines revved up… Go Figure… Men & Cars & Racing…
One verse that I to refer to often is out of 2 Timothy 4:7 that appropriately states in a manly tone, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Don’t know what your race may be right now but as we all run together (Male and Female) (Taryn tells me that girls like cars too…) lets run for God, run to finish, and yes run to WIN!
Hope you are off to a Winning Week!
Go God!
Pastor D.
Also, Below are some pics of Isaac getting checking out some his favorites at the show…

OK, I have a theory - It has been really cold outside the last few days, so maybe lil’ JD is just really smart and senses that it is cold and realizes that it would be a favorable decision on his part to stay inside his mommy (Where it is very warm - 98.5 degrees to be exact…) until the conditions are more benefitial…
Ok so I am going crazy too! No sense in delaying my impatient thougths - I want to meet my son, there is no harm in admitting that, right?
Patience is a virture that cannot wait to be formed…
“I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.†Phil. 1:6 (GN)
In all of our lives, there is always something that seems to be on hold. It is just important that you (Like Me) keep it in the perspective that God is in control and that He will complete what He started in each one of us… (Just as His Word promises…)
Thought of the day: WHAT GOD STARTS, HE FINISHES
I’ll keep ya posted and hopfully we will hear something when it gets warmer - I mean when He Finishes…
D
PS - Needless to say - We are looking forward to a Great Weekend!!!
PSS - The Other Warm Little boy pictured above is my son Isaac - He was to next best thing to taking a picture of Taryn’s Belly - which she strongly opposed
