Hello, I’m Jessica Sorensen, two years ago my husband, Dana, and I moved here from Michigan because Dana is in the Air Force and stationed at Bolling AFB. Shortly after we moved here we tried out a few churches and were really discouraged because we couldn’t find a church home. Dana’s supervisor, Andy invited us to a vision night for DC Metro Church, we were a little nervous about going but we did. We made some great friends that night and we really fell in love with the church. I started by serving in the Children’s Ministry and then about a year and half ago I started volunteering at the office one day a week, and that became a few days a week. A few months ago I started as the service coordinator on Sundays, so if you have seen someone running around the theater that’s probably me. I really have enjoyed serving God in these roles at church. Now I am happy to say that this week I started as an accountant at DC Metro church, I work three days a week at the office and still get to spend a couple days at home with my 15 months old son, Teagan.
It is such a blessing being at the church, doing work for Jesus and building his kingdom.

OK So the above photo has nothing to do with this blog post accept it does have some great news – Isaac learned how to pedal – aren’t they cute! OK plus its father’s day this Sunday and I am their proud dad!
Blog Post starts here… - – Couple of great things going on at church that I was so pumped about – had to share them with you since we are doing the “12 Minutes of Prayer” P90X at church…
Here goes some cool ones for me personally:
- JESUS designed a new kitchen for us at IKEA (no really a guy named Jesus designed our kitchen at IKEA!) I thought that was cool because it is like the cheapest kitchen on the planet! (GO GOD – and the guy named Jesus at IKEA!) – OK so maybe this is just neat…
- BIG News – Kaci Calvaresi is Cancer Free! We have been praying for Kaci as a church for several months – and you guessed it, she has been given a clear bill of health! Go God!
- Multiple Good News – In the last month, There have been 4 babies born at DC Metro! Go God! Guess you could say that we are all about “populating the earth” at DC Metro… This is how committed we are to growing as a church – we multiply!

I have also heard of some incredible things that God is doing in Marriages, Relationships, and in Personal Finances so lets keep pressing in as I know that God is on the move at DC Metro and in so many people’s lives due to the 12 Minutes of Prayer that we are committing to as a church.
