A Conversation With Rick Warren
I had the great honor of attending a great event with a small group of Pastors from around the DC Metro Area called “A Conversation with Rick Warren.”
Pastor Rick is author of the book “The Purpose Driven Life” which has sold more copies than any other book in history, next to the Bible.
He spoke to us for over two hours on various topics regarding Pastoral Ministry. One topic that stands out as my personal favorite, The Importance of the Local Church …
Cool Stats:
He said that on any given weekend - 150 million people attend church in America. This may not sound like alot, but he also stated that, this number is larger than all attendees of all athletic events in the USA combined over the course of one year (yes including Little League. Not to mention this 150 million happens every weekend in the church…
He went on to say that, “In 1000 years there will be no Microsoft, no GE, no Google (OK this is Arguable), there may not even be a USA, but unless Jesus comes back by then, there will still be God’s Church…” The bible says, “On this rock (Jesus) I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Go God!
This got me excited all over again about what we are doing as a family at DC Metro Church with the vision of “Building a God First Culture throughout the DC Metro Area.” Thank God that it is He who is building His house in and around DC, and Thank God, that He is also the one that protects it…
Later on in the evening, I found myself reflecting once again on Psalm 122:1, I rejoiced with those who said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
