DC Car Show

DC Car Show

This past weekend Isaac and I got some good ole’ guy time at the Washington DC Auto Show

We had a great time and saw some amazing vehicles as we scoured the area checking in with the latest styles and all the newest models.

I am not sure what it is about cars that can put men of all ages into high gear. As you can probabally imagine Isaac was no exception as we moved from front-seat to front-seat for hours - snapping proud photos all the way…

It must be tied to speed, racing, or winning (or some combination) that keeps our engines revved up… Go Figure… Men & Cars & Racing…

One verse that I to refer to often is out of 2 Timothy 4:7 that appropriately states in a manly tone, “I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Don’t know what your race may be right now but as we all run together (Male and Female) (Taryn tells me that girls like cars too…) lets run for God, run to finish, and yes run to WIN!

Hope you are off to a Winning Week!

Go God!

Also, Below are some pics of Isaac getting checking out some his favorites at the show…

Dont Just Live…

Dont Just Live...

THRIVE!

Get ready for a boost tomorrow morning as we jump back into our latest series on faith. We are also going to be ending our 21 Days of prayer and fasting as I know that God will honor what all of us have chosen to give up during this first month of our New Year.

I have been so ecouraged about all the stories of what everyone in the church has been fasting from as it takes great faith (The Theme of The Series) to lay things down in exchange to be closer to God during this time. God is going to do great things at “DC Metro” this year!

“According to your faith will it be done to you.” Matt. 9:29
“Faith assures us of things we expect…” Heb. 11:1 (GW – God’s Word Translation)

Expecting the best with all of you this year!

Go God!

Baptism & Prayer Service

Baptism & Prayer Service

There are few things that I get more excited about than watching God turn lives around right in our midst…

He is so good and watching Him turn lives around is a true Joy!

With that said we are going to have our first ever Baptism & Prayer Service this Thursday Night!

There is no better place to see God’s Transformation Process alive and well in peoples lives then at a Baptism Service…

We have also had a wonderful church called First Christian Church extend their sanctuary and baptistry to us for this joyous occasion. Thank you FCC - We love you guys!

If you are interested in coming to be a part of this service, be baptized for this first time (Or again!) come on out and join us this Thursday Night from 7 - 8:30pm at fcc. (Click Here for Directions)

Also, We are going to be praying for healing and needs of all kinds during this service - so if you have a need - bring that too! as everyone will have an opportunity to be prayed for as we lift our needs to God!

Hope you are ready for a great Thursday Night!

See you there,

Expectantly,

Pastor D.

Scripture of the Day - Psalm 103:1-3 “Bless the Lord, o my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and foget not all His benefits: Wor fogives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Great First Week!

Great First Week!

The Stine Family is doing great and Taryn is recovering well.

This has been a week of many transitions as we have introduced Isaac & Josiah which has led to many more introductions of the both of them (don’t worry Isaac has taken very well to his lil’ brother and is already showing signs of becoming a Great - Big Brother.)

We want to thank everyone for their encouranging comments, notes, gifts, and food! You all have been such a blessing to us and we are forever greatful for the wonderful reception you have given our son Josiah “JD” into the world…

Below are some pics of Josiah’s First Week!

Finally - Josiah Has Arrived!

Finally - Josiah Has Arrived!

Friends and Family,

It gives me great pleasure to announce the arrival of our second son Josiah David Stine “JD”…

After much Prayer & Patience JD arrived at 8:30am this morning at Virginia Hostial Center in Arlington Virginia. He weighed in at 8 lbs 1.2 oz (Big Boy!) & 21.5 inches in length (Tall Boy!). He looks like his big brother Isaac, has his mother’s intelligence and his daddy’s appetite…

The labor and deliver went better than we could have asked…

We want to thank all of our friends and family at DC Metro and across the country for encouraging us with all of your support, thoughts, and prayers… We love you all!!!

God is So Good!

“ …God does everything just right and on time, but people
can never completely understand what He is doing.”
Eccl. 3:11 (NCV – New Century Version)

Still Waiting…

Ok - I told myself I would not blog about this anymore, but the anticipation is killing me…

We are now three - yes 3 - full days (Ok I know that it is not that much - but it does seem like an eternity to us after 40 weeks!) after Taryn’s due date, and still no sign of lil’ JD!

I have been practicing patience and all, but you cannot deny a 2nd time new father’s excitement to meet his little boy!

I have secretly tried to tell myself that he is coming soon, just to focus on “Doing the Work of the Lord!” - Shouldn’t that be enough - the answer to that is yes - but you know what I mean…

While we are talking about it, I want to also say a BIG THANK YOU to all those waiting, watching, and some even waging - in anticipation with us… You are so encouraging as we spend this time chilling (oh sorry - chillin’) in great anticipation for God to move. (that is - move him outta there…)

Just keep Taryn (A.K.A. around the Stine House as: “T” or “MOMMA!“) in your prayers as you can only imagine (Ladies mostly) (Guys we should not even try to imagine - or so I am told - which is good enough for me…) what kind of discomfort she has been in. Even though she has been the best little “trooper”, we do stop for prayer several times per day - so thanks for standing in agreement with us…

I will keep you posted - as God keeps us posted!

Go God!

David

Victory - LSU & Louisiana Too…

Victory - LSU & Louisiana Too...

Victory on the home front…

It was a wonderful evening at the Stine House last night as we celebrated the second National Championship Football Title for LSU in the last five years… Ok, I know this may not sound very “Pastoral” (As we have many buckeyes that attend DC Metro (We Love Our Buckeyes!)) However - over the years it has meant so much more than that for Taryn and I as well as our home state which we love…

There have been some rough blows for Louisiana over the last several years and to have another win like this adds so much to a wonderful place that - at times - seems to have so little. I can still remember going back on LSU’s campus just a couple of years ago to be amazed by all the positive changes that were able to happen right after the 2003 National Footbal Title. It seemed as if there were so many new and updated buildings compared to when Taryn and I attended Undergrad there. It was as if the whole school was able to go to the next level as an institution. It is so amazing how one successful football season can do so much in such a short amount of time…

The win last night is sure to take LSU and Louisiana to even higher heights as there will once again be an influx of opportuntiy for one of the great cultural capitals of America…

Thank God for Louisiana - and our Alma-mater too…

Geaux Tigers & Geaux God!!!

PS - Did I mention? We love our Buckeyes!!!

The Warm Little Boy…

The Warm Little Boy...

OK, I have a theory - It has been really cold outside the last few days, so maybe lil’ JD is just really smart and senses that it is cold and realizes that it would be a favorable decision on his part to stay inside his mommy (Where it is very warm - 98.5 degrees to be exact…) until the conditions are more benefitial…

Ok so I am going crazy too! No sense in delaying my impatient thougths - I want to meet my son, there is no harm in admitting that, right?

Patience is a virture that cannot wait to be formed…

“I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.” Phil. 1:6 (GN)

In all of our lives, there is always something that seems to be on hold. It is just important that you (Like Me) keep it in the perspective that God is in control and that He will complete what He started in each one of us… (Just as His Word promises…)

Thought of the day: WHAT GOD STARTS, HE FINISHES

I’ll keep ya posted and hopfully we will hear something when it gets warmer - I mean when He Finishes…

D

PS - Needless to say - We are looking forward to a Great Weekend!!!
PSS - The Other Warm Little boy pictured above is my son Isaac - He was to next best thing to taking a picture of Taryn’s Belly - which she strongly opposed

Not Here Yet…

Not Here Yet...

Still Waiting for Big Mr. JD to Arrive!!!

No sign of him yet today anyway, as I feel that 40 weeks of waiting 10 trips to the doctor and three trips to the hospital should be enough - one more trip is all it takes…

The Patience Building Saga Continues…

John 13:7 “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

2 Corinthians 1:9 “(This Happened)… So we might learn to trust, not in ourselves, but in God.”

Thought of the Day: When God Delays, He Knows Best!

Photo Above: Isaac and I on the look-out for JD’s Arrival!!! Waiting Patiently…

The Waiting Game…

The Waiting Game...

Well it has been a rather exciting day at the Stine Home…

We have made a trip to the Hospital in hopes of meeting our newest addition to our family - Josiah David Stine (JD)…

After an exciting and wild ride to the Hospital - Dad’s You Can Appreciate! - We got Taryn all hooked up to monitors and watched excitedly as the contractions continued to get more and more frequent… Only to find out that we needed to go home so that we could come back in a few hours when the contractions became unbearable (Ouch!)

Needless-to-say, we are at home processing though the following scripture:

“These things I plan won’t happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, do not despair, for these things will surely come to pass. Just be patient! They will not be overdue a single day!” Hab. 2:3 (LB)

The waiting game is always interesting with God and it does not just happen when we are waiting for a child to be born, rather I have found that it occurs with any vision/dream that God has put in our heart. Much like a birthing process, it comes in God’s Time - Which is the Right Time…

Don’t know what you may be waiting for in your own life - but I hope this scripture encourages you as it has encouraged us as we wait not for our timing but God’s…

Blessings,

David & Taryn

PS - Keep us in your prayers…
