We (The CLC Interns, and DC Metro Staff) had a wonderful opportunity last night…
Around 10 pm last night we went to the DC Central Kitchen where we were able to hang out and feed around 75 men who were in their hypothermia ward. This is a wonderful place for the homeless of DC to find shelter, especially on really cold nights like last night…
We met, hung out with, and even got to pray for, some great folks there and look forward to going back with more food and supplies in the future. They were even open to us doing a chapel service for the men and women who find shelter there…
Please pray for this mission as I know that this is a needed ministry in the District of Columbia because of the extreme poverty and homelessness. On any given night there is shelter to accomadate around 1600 men and women at this one mission building…
We hope to continue to be a blessing to these fine men and women who serve and find shelter there…
Help us Lord!

“Surviving the Holidays†Launches This Weekend
We are going to have an incredible guest speaker this weekend to launch our new series “Surviving the Holidaysâ€!
One of our Presbyters, Pastor Stovall Weems from Celebration Church in Jacksonville, is going to be with us for both services. Stovall is a dear friend who I have known for many years. He was my college pastor back at good ole’ LSU (Geaux Tigers!), and then I had the privilege of working as an Associate Pastor at his church in Jacksonville before moving to the DC area. Stovall and his wife Kerri have been a “huge” support to Taryn and me as they have partnered with us in a “huge†way to launch DC Metro Church. We believe they are two of the greatest Pastors in the Country! We are looking forward to this visit as we know Pastor Stovall is always a joy to hear and to be around. He is sure to bring a timely message for all of us and for DC Metro Church, so get ready for a great message and a great weekend!
We are also excited to have a guest worship leader this weekend, my brother-in-law Doug “Dougie†Fowler, who will lead with our incredible DC Metro Band this weekend.
It is going to be a great weekend at Church, See You There!

This week we have some very special guests in from Jacksonville. They are from the Celebration Leadership College, CLC and are up here on a missions trip to DC and to DC Metro Church… They were at the church office all day yesterday helping “Create More Space” for our ever expanding needs as a church.
Thank God for this group of inredible students,
Pastor D.

This is going to be a great holiday season…
I hope that all of you are ready for all of the great things that God is going to do in YOUR LIFE this next month…
Here at DC Metro, we are planning on doing several exciting things this December to end the year with a God Sized BANG!
One thing in particular that I am very excited about, is that we are doing a special outreach to children at an Orphanage in Liberia, Africa. This holiday season, as a church, we have adopted this group of 108 Children and will be giving all them Christmas presents so that they can have a very special Christmas. To take it even a step further, our very own “Metro Kids” are leading the charge as they too will be giving gifts to these very special orphans.
If you would like to be a part of reaching out and blessing these 108 Liberian Orphans with DC Metro Church, you can either bring wrapped gifts to church on Sunday Mornings to our Childrens Ministry Areas, or you can do so by giving online by clicking here.
We are making this part of all of our outreaches this Holiday Season which we have called: “The Season of Hope.” This holiday season we are going to bring the hope of Jesus to people all around DC and in Liberia too…
Bless You All and Get Ready for a Hope-Filled Month at DC Metro,
Pastor David

Well, I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day yesterday…
We were a little sick all day (a little better today), but that did not stop our “Double Dose of Thanks” for all that God has done this year…
Although we are thankful every year, we are especially thankful this year, as God has done so many great things!
Some of them include:
The highly anticipated arrival of our newborn son #2.
We are thankful too that we may have finally agreed upon his name (The First of Many Holiday Miracles) (Coming Soon…)
Taryn and I are obviously thankful for the start of DC Metro Church (Go God!)
We are also thankful for our sweet little boy #1 Isaac! (Go Isaac!)
We are thankful for our church staff (You Rock!)
We are very thankful for the team that is pursuing God’s Dream (DC Metro Dream Team!)
We are also so very thankful for all the churches, people, ministries, and faithful friends around the country who have helped us to pursue the call that God has on our lives to: “Build a God First Culture in the DC Metro Area.” (We will never forget you all!)
And Last, and the opposite of least – A “Double Dose of Thanks” to Jesus!
See you all this weekend at church as we give God a Double Dose of Thanks (Part II) to Him again (part of the “Double”) this weekend…
Go God!

After over two weeks of travel, we are back together again… Yes that is right, I have been in Louisiana on traveling on business for over two weeks now. Even though I have been coming back in town for the weekend services on Sunday, It is just not the same as being here with them during the week…
After getting back in town on Saturday and two great services on Sunday, we had some much needed “Family Time” today. I have been thinking about the saying that goes, “Distance makes the heart grow fonder…” How true it is when we talking about Taryn and Isaac…
The reality is that I am so thankful for them… As we reflect along this topic of “Thankfulness” this week on our own: family, friends, stuff I pray that we all feel the same… Thankful! I have been further reflecting about the life of Nehemiah and how one secret of His success was his ability to be over thankful to all that God did for him. I have called our current series just as I feel he did to God – “A Double Dose of Thanks!” And we at DC Metro Church are doing just that this week, We are committing to giving God a Double Dose instead of just being thankful – we are going to make a double dose this week…
I love the verse that says 1 Corinthians 15:57 which states, “Thanks be to God, He gives us the Victory…”
Hope you all have a Greatly Thankful Thanksgiving – A Double Dose of it too!
Pastor David
