We had a great outreach last night at the Screen on the Green Event on the Nation Mall.  We tried to think of the most creative way to reach the over 10,000 people who attended the event last night and came up with the above trivia card…  It was so easy as I think only one person turned down the card (I think that he was just being cool in front of his girlfriend anyway :-)  Overall we handed out all 600 cards to various individuals and had a great response as we met what, at the time, was many people’s “felt need” (-to know more about the oldy but goody - famous movie “Casa Blanca“-)

The idea behind meeting the “felt need” has been a theme in all of our outreaches.  The simple thought is that like Jesus modeled for us, by meeting a persons felt need it will allow for them to be open to having their real need met.  We all know what that real need is, and His name is Jesus!  It seems that everyone has a different felt need as we have expereimented I think we have come up with some real winners, (you may be blown away at their complexity!!!) here they are:

  • When it is hot out side, a good felt need is cold water! Hmmm…
  • A Big felt need for kids is: Candy (My favorite is the classic Ring Pop!)
  • A Night time felt need for kids is: Glow Sticks (They are sticks, and they glow, very novel!)

OK, so it is not rocket science… but it is quite ground-breaking to think that something as simple as, “Facts about the Movie Casa Blanca” will open people up to God, Church, and even “Christians”?

I have been prompted to think for myself, “What are the felt needs of the unbelievers around me?”

Just a thought…
