Church Planters Roundtable

I am in Birmingham this week attending what I believe to be the best church planting 101 avaliable today. It is called the Church Planters Roundtable and it is held by the Association of Related Churches at the Church of the Highlands. I will be taking notes from one of the best church planters around, Pastor Chris Hodges and the head overseer of ARC, Pastor Billy Horsby. I am sure it will prove to be a great weekend.

Strangly enough it is the second time I have attended this conference… Taryn and I attended this conference in 2003 as we were gearing up for a church plant in DC at that time. Thank God we followed His lead and waited until He was ready to move us north… God’s timing is always the best, I mean blessed!

Also, Taryn spoke at Celebration Women (ON: Being a Confident Women) at our Deerwood Campus this morning (I heard it was Great!), I will be posting it on the podcast for all to hear soon…

Hope you enjoyed the round-table. My wife, Kim and I attended one in 2005 and now our church in Castle Rock, Colorado is only 6 weeks old. The ARC way is the BEST way to plant! Now the church is running in the low 100’s to 150 and we’ve got a healthy start going. =) One of my associate pastors and I will be visiting Celebration Church in April; and we’d love to sit down with you. Pastor Clay has been talking with my College/Student Pastor (Joshua Kuekelhan - from Birmingham 24-7) We’ve been talking about creating a sister program to the EDJ here in Colorado called The Summit EDJ Colorado (with intensives on church-planting). I’d love to build a relationship with you…as I’m sure that many of your college guys and girls are thinking about what to do with their lives in the future. Currently we’ve got two interns joining us from Finland (through the ARC) they will be helping us throughout the summer (and are going to plant a church in Helsinki this fall), but the fall and next school year look wide open…so if you know some guys or girls that would enjoy this kind of opportunity please let us know.
