Isaac’s New Game…

Isaac's New Game...

I have started this game with my son Isaac, let me rephrase that… Isaac has started this game with me. Here’s how it goes… He picks up a toy and throws it down on the ground, I then proceed to pick up the toy and give it back to him, he then takes the toy and throws it down on the ground, I then pick up the toy and give it back to him, where he then takes the toy and throws it down on the ground, etc. This process continues for about the next ten minutes until we are both worn out…

This reminded me of our relationship with God from time to time. He gives us an opportunity that we practically beg him for (i.e. , we then take that great opportunity and we begin to throw it down (talk bad about it, or be unthankful for it), He being the good God that He is, (also knowing what is best for us) then picks the opportunity up again and (At this point we are usually even less dignified that my 9 month old, (usually after we are kicking and screaming)) he gives it back to us. Of course, then we throw the opportunity back down again, etc. and the cycle continues.

The big difference is that God never gets tired of picking up our mess and for lifting us up out of it!

Be thankful for where you are TODAY!

Bless You,

David

Great Week in DC

Great Week in DC

It was a great week in DC this past week. God met us in many ways throughout the week. I looked at several different buildings in the DC Metro Area that would almost all make for suitable first locations. However I feel that I have narrowed it down to at least three. Of those three I will be submitting proposals for their use in the next few weeks as we make progress in securing the “best” location that God has for starting DCMetroChurch.

The most encouraging thing that happened on the trip was that we experienced God’s favor around every corner and the doors that He is opening, “no one can shut” Rev. 3:8. I am encouraged at the amount of people who emailed and let us know that they are believing God for Great Things with us… Thank you all again for your prayers and support as we start what we truly believe to be a Great Church in the DC Metro Area…

Also,

Prayer:

  • Continue to pray for the right home for us to live in (we had a little real estate “sticker-shock”) as we are activly praying about where to live, and yes how to afford it (God has always provided above and beyond for us! Phil. 4:19).
  • Also, continue to pray for our launch team, there have been several people who have committed to moving with us to DC from Jacksonville as well as Virginia Beach. Please pray for their protection, housing in DC, future employment in the DC area, and our launch meetings with these incredible people.

Thats all for now, more to come soon…

David…

Big week in DC!

Big week in DC!

…Sitting in the airport in Jacksonville on another great Sunday night… I am traveling to DC to have several meetings this week positioning to launch DCMetroChurch. I could not be more excited about spending this week with full focus on the start of what is going to be a Great Church in DC. I will be staying with my roommate from Seminary and dear friend Matthew Stroia and his wonderful family (Andee (my first cousin), Ella (2yrs) and Sophia (5mos). They will be helping us to start the church and have moved on faith up to Northern Virginia in faith and great expectation about what God is going to do, already.

I do have some prayer requests for this week as we believe God for Big Things:

  • Open Doors with Alexandria Public Schools (Meeting Tuesday)
  • God’s guidance with several one-on-one meetings with potential launch team members.
  • The Perfect Building, Location, Environment to start the church at the best (miracle) price…
  • The Perfect House for Taryn, Isaac, and I to call HOME…
  • The smooth quick sale of our home in Florida! (Just went on the market)
  • Overall miracles of Gods divine favor the whole week.

Thanks for agreeing with us this week,

Go God!

FLEX Mens Conference

FLEX Mens Conference

This past weekend Celebration Church put on a men’s conference called FLEX 2007. It was an incredible experience as we heard what God says about such topics as: Sex, Marriage, and Parenting… I was amazed at some of the statistics that came forth over the course of the weekend. An example of one of those statistics was that 8 out of 10 men regularly view pornography. These statistics as well as some powerful messages took the men who attended to the next level in their walk with God.

On of the most powerful messages that I had the honor of hearing was by Coach Bill McCartney of the Colorado Buffalos and the infamous organization called Promise Keepers. The most profound thing that happened for me though is when I was able to go behind the scenes in the green room to meet him, only for him to call those in the room to gather around him before the service to pray for him. What a man of integrity, here we are laughing and hanging out and Coach Mac asks everyone to stop and pray for him. What a testimony of a man who knows the power of prayer.

What a pleasure to meet this great man, if you get a chance check out his message from the celebration podcast, or by ordering the message through celebration.org.

Go God!

DC Metro Update

DC Metro Update

I wanted to make a quick post to give everyone some current updates on DCmetrochurch as well as some prayer points moving forward… Here Goes:

Updates:

  • We have a total of 9 confimed people on the official launch team, (6 adults, and 1 toddler, and 2 infants thank God for kids!) Names to be announced soon…
  • We have a great website being developed right now by one of Taryn and I’s favorite people: Alex Tran, (a.k.a. AirTran)
  • Developmental Graphics and branding is currently being done on several different projects by another one of our favorite people: Carrie Lantry… (Go Carrie!)
  • We have started initial facility conversations with Regent University, where we hope to have our “Pre-Launch Services” on Sunday Nights in August 2007. (These are going to be our launch team meetings for initial Dream Team of DCmetrochurch, they are going to be fun services.)
  • I, David, will be taking a trip to DC from February 18- 23 to: Meet with Alexandria Public School System’s Director of Facilities to settle on a facility for “Official Launch Services” in January 2008! Go God!
  • Pastor Stovall and I will be heading to the ARC “CPR-Church Planters Roundtable” Conference at the end of February to get the latest scoop from the church planting master, Chris Hodges of Church of the Highlands in Birmingham.

Prayer Points: (Please Pray for Us!)

  • Favor and connections with ministry leaders in the DC metro area.
  • Favor with Regent University to use their King Street Metro Campus, Auditorium for our “Pre-Launch Services” starting in August.
  • The people of Alexandria Virginia, DC, Arlington, and all of Fairfax County who will make DCmetrochurch their new home…
  • Favor with the Alexandria Public School System Facility Director, for us to have access to start our “official launch services” in january in TC Williams High School (Remember the Titans) which is on King Street. (this would be amazing, because of all that TC Williams represents regarding race and our heart to see a truly “multicultural” church in the DC Area.

Keep the Stines in prayer as well (David, Taryn, and Isaac) as we make this major transition into something that God has put into our hearts so many years ago. We are very excited about what God is doing in our family, our launch team and with DCmetrochurch.

More Updates to Come Soon…
