My son Isaac is a real go-getter. He has been progressing greatly in the little things that we all progress in during our first year. My favorite has been this new fear-factor stunt that he likes to do in the mornings after Taryn and I put him in bed with us… I like to call it “The Baby Bungee Jump.” The move is very simple, he rapidly crawls to the edge of the bed and then leaps off! Yes that’s right, He just takes a leap of faith!
Your probabally thinking, “Is he alright when he dives off the edge of the bed?, or Is your mattress on the floor?” So just to give you peace, Isaac is fine, but my mattress is not on the floor. The trick is much more ingenius than one would think. You see Isaac, first gets my attention! Once he has my attention he knows that I am going to catch him before he makes his 4 foot rapid descent. He only makes the leap when his leg in my hand and there he dangles about two feet from the floor, laughing his head off I might add, as I bring him back to safety… He is a tiger and as you can imagine very trusting of his father.
As I thought about my fearless son, I was again reminded of how we need only “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight” (Prov. 3:6.) Once we acknowledge Him we should just trust Him to catch us as we leap out in faith after Him… Sometimes we will land where He wants us to land, and even if don’t, He will catch us and bring us back to safety…
