The Bungee Jump!

The Bungee Jump!

My son Isaac is a real go-getter. He has been progressing greatly in the little things that we all progress in during our first year. My favorite has been this new fear-factor stunt that he likes to do in the mornings after Taryn and I put him in bed with us… I like to call it “The Baby Bungee Jump.” The move is very simple, he rapidly crawls to the edge of the bed and then leaps off! Yes that’s right, He just takes a leap of faith!

Your probabally thinking, “Is he alright when he dives off the edge of the bed?, or Is your mattress on the floor?” So just to give you peace, Isaac is fine, but my mattress is not on the floor. The trick is much more ingenius than one would think. You see Isaac, first gets my attention! Once he has my attention he knows that I am going to catch him before he makes his 4 foot rapid descent. He only makes the leap when his leg in my hand and there he dangles about two feet from the floor, laughing his head off I might add, as I bring him back to safety… He is a tiger and as you can imagine very trusting of his father.

As I thought about my fearless son, I was again reminded of how we need only “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight” (Prov. 3:6.) Once we acknowledge Him we should just trust Him to catch us as we leap out in faith after Him… Sometimes we will land where He wants us to land, and even if don’t, He will catch us and bring us back to safety…

Every Day Counts…

Every Day Counts...

I have just started watching the new season of 24. I am, as expected, once again, hooked… Needless to say I am finally starting the series that I have been thinking about for some time now. At LateNite this week, you guessed it, we are starting, 24: Every Day Counts!

I have been amazed at how Jack Bauer comes on the scene this season. He has just emerged from 20 months in a Chinese prison camp where he is pulled out only to be asked to risk his life once again for the cause that he believes. At one point he even says something to this extent, “I thought that I was going to have to die in that prison without a purpose, Now I have a purpose to die for…”

We all have a purpose to live and die for and as for this week, Jack bauer has said it best…

God has given us all a purpose to live our life for and while pursuing that purpose, Every Day Counts…

Have a great weekend,

Firsts…

Firsts...

I hope that everyone is off to a great new year with resolutions, goals and such… I know that at the Stine house we are experiencing a lot of milestones or firsts right now with my son Isaac. Already in this short New Year he has experienced his first time of sitting up, first teeth (ouch!), and my personal favorite his first crawl.

All of these great things are happening in our lives with many more to come very soon. In fact we have another first happening this year… We have just announced that we will be starting a new church this year with Celebration Church’s and our family’s full blessing. This is something that we will be talking about much more in the near future, but just to give you a quick scoop: We are starting DC Metro Church in Washington DC in January 2008 and plan to move to Alexandria, Va this Summer.

More to come soon, but pray for us as we make our plans on this God-First for the Stine’s.
